A Gracious Lady, Imogene
I really think I was born too late, this world is all too cold. Gone is the etiquette of yesteryear, the world has become too bold.

How rare do we see graciousness, and gentlemen and gentlewomen are hard to find. It is much too much trouble to be well-mannered, much easier to be unkind.

Everyone thinks it is their right to speak their mind any place at any time. But what about the rights of those who do not wish to know what’s on their mind?

Imagine a world where it’s novel to cover up and “new” to comb and style your hair. We just can’t take the time to visit the elderly, they probably won’t even know we’re there.

Does anyone remember when people wore their “Sunday best” and family dinnertime was never missed. When hard work and commitment were recognized as achievement. Was this all just ignorant bliss?

Was it really so bad when women were ladies and men acted with honor and true grit? Did we really gain so much in these past 30 or so years, or did we lose more than we wish to admit.

Have the children been the beneficiaries of our greed, or did we hurt them more than we will ever know? Remember that old biblical saying, “You will reap just what you sow”?

I look around me and see a generation that is slowly fading away each year. The quiet, selfless, “greatest” one, the elderly we should hold dear.

When they are all gone from the earth, it will be a time to mourn. Not only a generation will be lost, but a part of our culture and past that can never be reborn.

Thank you God, for letting me have Grandma Jean in my life for the past 31 years.
